Mayor, James R. Rensel
Trustee J. Michael Steele
Trustee Timothy Dunn
Trustee James Jaroszynski
Trustee Carmella Catanese

Peter C. Fuller, DPW Superintendent

The work session meeting of the Village of Falconer Mayor and Board of Trustees was held on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 5:45 P.M. in the Community Building Board Room with Mayor James Rensel presiding.

No visitors were present.

Trustee Dunn made a motion, seconded by Trustee Catanese, to approve the work session minutes of June 10, 2019 as written. Ayes: Dunn, Steele, Jaroszynski, Catanese and Rensel. Carried.

Mayor Rensel suggested that unless any trustees had an alternative realtor suggestion, he would call Heather Canaley from ERA-Team VP to discuss marketing the property at 211 E. James Street.

The board reviewed and discussed the “Employee Discipline Notice” form. Trustee Dunn stated that he liked the form. Mayor Rensel stated he feels that written discipline may not always be necessary and that a manager can chose to verbally discipline an employee. He said that he feels that “discipline is training, not punishment” and that managers must set the example.

Clerk Fales was directed to add “Date for Follow-up” in association with the “plan for improvement” area of the form.

Mayor Rensel pointed out that an employee may not agree with the discipline and may choose not to sign the form. He added that if an employee chooses not to sign the disciplinary form, the manager should have a witness sign the form.

The board discussed a possible shared service agreement with a nearby township whose supervisor called to discuss sharing a code officer/fire inspector with 4 townships. Falconer wants a code officer for at least 15 hours per week. The board then briefly reviewed 12 applicants who have applied for the part-time code officer position.

Trustee Dunn made a motion, seconded by Trustee Steele to adjourn the work session at 6:22 pm. Ayes: Dunn, Steele, Jaroszynski, Catanese and Rensel. Carried.

Respectfully submitted,
Anna L. Fales, Village Clerk
